Ranges of solitude

Leanne Milton is a Wiradjuri/Tubba-Gah woman who was born on Ngarigo Country and has lived on Ngunnawal Country since 2010. As a local landscape artist of this region, she has appreciated many car trips along the Monaro Highway passing by the Tinderry Range and the Clear Range on the opposite side. As a local southside resident of Canberra, Leanne would often drive along the Naas Road and Bobeyan Road to Adaminaby to visit her grandmother. The old dirt road was always a favorite as they offered solitude with Snowy Gums and views of the giant mountain ranges.

This artwork is in two sections, as the view of Tinderry Range stretched over Leanne’s drawing pad as she sits in the bushland overlooking the Monaro highway. The Clear Range hides the busy Monaro highway from view and the water colour’s pull you into a secluded and peaceful space in the highlands.
